K.I.D.S. Early Learning Center is an initial school experience for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 12 years of age. K.I.D.S. is the brainchild of Katherine Burns who is an educator and educational administrator. Prior to establishing K.I.D.S. Early Learning Center, she taught early childhood classes in New York City , developed services for children with special needs and worked as an educational administrator. After a twenty year career and two graduate degrees, she decided to establish a quality choice in early childhood education with extended care to her local community. In 1994, Katherine Burns purchased a vacant property and designed and worked closely with the State of New Jersey and the Township of Hazlet to open K.I.D.S.at 60. Hazlet Avenue. The property lent itself to a campus design with two buildings and multiple play yards and sufficient on property parking for convenience.
Once planning and design was accomplished, The Monthly Curriculum Program was designed and the school opened in early 1996.
Certified teachers were hired, as well as, a medical professional who is responsible for the health and safety of the children in our care. Our staff turn-over is extremely low. The majority of the current staff have a tenure of twenty years or more. This offers stabilty and tradition to our program.
We are licensed by the State of New Jersey with a capacity of 123 children each day. Over the years we have had the privilege of enrolling more than 3000 children. Our relationship with the families has spanned a generation. It is our greatest joy when a college student contacts us to visit and identifies themselves as a graduate of K.I.D.S. We currently have two graduates of K.I.D.S. working in our summer camp. We have also had children of the former "children" who attended our program enroll in our programs. Our services span generations.
